“Why hire a Designer to create my logo, when I could use Fiverr or an online logo-maker instead?”
3 reasons NOT to go the inexpensive route:
YOUR LOGO REFLECTS THE ESSENCE OF YOUR BUSINESS.
Your logo is the foundation of your brand, and your brand is the main way you show your customers who you are, and why they would want to work with you!
As I mentioned in a previous article, your logo should speak to your mission/vision statement, and visually represent the “story” you want to tell people. Taking the chance that your logo may not reflect your message, or speak to your audience because it was created in about 20 minutes from a bunch of mix-&-match clipart is not a great idea.
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
What’s the difference between McDonald’s and Smashburger? Quality.
Hiring a designer may take longer and cost more than a Fiverr solution, but you will save money and time in the long run because you know it’s done right the first time. You won’t have to go through endless revisions with multiple Fiverr designers because they’re trying to design your logo assembly-line-style by visually mashing image-search keywords together… with Fiverr you will most likely get a 1-size-fits-all solution, that may not fit your needs!
A GOOD DESIGNER KNOWS WHAT YOU DON’T.
The main reason to go with a professional is because they know all the things that you don’t, like how to use good design principles & practices (balance, emphasis, color theory, etc.), or how to plan ahead for various uses and mediums (CMYK vs. RGB, raster vs. vector, crop marks, overprint, bleed room, resolution, etc.)
Also, a good designer will be able to take the ideas in your head and turn them into a reality greater than you can imagine… because that’s what they do! They know how to use your business plan and your marketing strategy to build your brand, so that your logo can be used to strategically move your business forward.
- If you want a logo that helps you stand out from the crowd, make a good first impression, and be consistent and memorable to your audience, hire a professional. If you just need a quick “fill-in-the-blank” logo, then Fiverr is the place for you!
